Having gone through tough times during global recession, a city youth returned to Ludhiana on Wednesday to share his experience with the students and advised them on how to chart their career.
A former student of Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GNIMT), Model Town, Chirag Bhatia is working as support engineer in Microsoft Bangalore. He was in city to hold a seminar for MCA students on finding opportunities in IT field.
Chirag discussed various career and training opportunities in the field of information technology. Discussing the skills required for freshers in the Industry, he stated, ''Professional knowledge, good communication skills, positive attitude and willingness to learn are the mantras for achieving success.'' Discussing the career opportunities, he said, ''Programmers, system administrators, database administrators and networking are various major career paths in the IT industry. Networking is needed because it is cost effective, enables faster data transfer and causes minimal data loss.''
Chirag emphasized on the importance of meeting deadlines, perseverance and continuous thirst for knowledge.
The event was coordinated by assistant professor Balwinder Taneja, a faculty member of GNIMT.
Advising the students, Dr (Col) H S Singha, the director of the institute, stated, ''Career opportunities in IT sector are bright and growing in India as well as abroad. It is a diverse industry in which companies are looking for a multi-skilled, tech savvy workforce. Hence, the students must equip themselves with latest professional skills to become successful in the field.'' The director and deputy director Dr Sandhya Mehta thanked Chirag for sharing his views on latest technologies with the students.
