Eighty MCA students and 225 MBA students of Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology ( GNIMT), Model Town received their degrees at the college's fifth convocation ceremony on Friday. Students of BBA and BCA were also awarded their graduation degrees.
Sixteen students got the academic roll of honour and six received academic awards. Students of the college Bhangra group were given the 'roll of honour' for winning gold medal in north zone, Intervarsity Youth Festival.
Vice-chancellor of Punjab Technical University (PTU), Jalandhar, Rajneesh Arora was the chief guest. Delivering the convocation address, Arora highlighted the importance of placements in educational institutions. He also discussed about the aspirations of the students regarding their dream jobs and pay package through campus interviews. However, not all students were happy about the convocation ceremony. Some students who reached late said though they had missed their university exams, taken off from jobs and even missed important business meetings to attend the convocation, it had done no good. About 20 students were not given their degrees because they reached late and despite requesting several authorities to be given their certificates they were refused.
