The four students have told the police officials that they were promised admissions by Hemant Zhala and Mitesh Patel for a huge sum. They told the students that they will admit them in the faculty on the senate members' quota.

Sources said that it was possible that dozens of such bogus students may have attended classes in the faculty. "The four students, who were duped, had done diploma in electrical engineering from a private institute in the city. They had appeared for entrance exams for getting admissions in bachelor's degree course at MSU technology faculty's electrical department," the sources added.

"The students, however, failed in the exams. Mitesh then approached these students and showed them a student ID saying that he had got admission in the faculty from the senate members' quota. Mitesh promised them admissions and demanded Rs seven lakh from each of them. The four students promptly agreed to pay," said a university official.

After paying up, Zhala asked the four students to start attending classes in August last year. "The classes seldom witness full attendance. So, the teachers never got suspicious of the four additional students in the room. These students used to attend classes regularly as they probably felt that their admissions were legal. But, they got caught while writing exams," said Raopura police officials.
